Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
My heart pounds furiously, and I’m embarrassed, because I know he feels it. – Anna and the French Kiss
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins is about the tale of an American teen, Anna who gets shipped to France for her senior year of high school. At her new boarding school, she meets a group of friends; the friendly Meredith, artistic Josh and his girlfriend Rashmi and the school’s heartthrob Etienne St. Clair. The story is of her adventures in France, learning about their culture and learning a lot more about herself, all while applying for colleges and living in a country where she doesn’t speak their language.
I love this book! This book is lighthearted, fun and incredibly enjoyable to read. I love how Perkins weaves the city of Paris into the story line and important plot moments happen beyond the walls of the boarding school. The friendships in the story are honest and refreshing. They hangout, do silly things together, fight and make up. I also enjoyed the romance in the story, rather than a story that was an overnight romance, Perkins writes the story of a girl slowly falling in love with her best friend. A beautiful tale of love, friendship and finding yourself in a strange new city, this is a wonderful read. We highly recommend it! 5/5
